The Roots have unveiled the star-studded lineup for their 2023 Roots Picnic, set to take place on June 3 and 4 in Philadelphia. Headlining the music side of the event will be a number of iconic acts, including Ms. Lauryn Hill, Diddy backed by the Roots, and Lil Uzi Vert.
This year’s festival will kick off with a comedy show featuring Dave Chappelle at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night (June 2). The Roots will join Chappelle on stage, promising a “seismic, first-ever comedy set of this magnitude.”
In addition to the headlining acts, the Roots Picnic will also feature performances by a diverse lineup of artists, including Ari Lennox, City Girls, Maverick City, Lucky Daye, Syd, GloRilla, and a “live mixtape” from Black Thought that will feature Busta Rhymes and Eve. DJ Drama, Uncle Waffles, Saucy Santana, and DVSN will also be in attendance, and a State Property reunion featuring Freeway, Beanie Siegel, Young Gunz, Peedi Crakk, Oschino & Sparks is set to take place.
For podcast fans, there will also be a dedicated podcast stage.
